How Clovie built a salon app on Companions.
Clovie is a WhatsApp-first booking app for salons, barbers and beauty businesses. Companions are built into it from day one: clients book in plain language, and owners run the day by asking.
Disclosure
Clovie is built by Nerova. It is where every Companions feature ships first, and the reference for what a platform can build.

Salons book on WhatsApp. Menus can't keep up.
In conversations with three independent businesses, WhatsApp was the main way clients booked. Menu-based bots break the moment a client writes like a person.
An assistant for every salon, inside the app owners already use.
- Plain-language booking: Clients ask on WhatsApp and get booked straight into the salon's calendar.
- A daily brief: Owners ask "what's on tomorrow?" and get the short answer with the bookings.
- Approval cards: Cancellations inside the salon's window wait for one tap.
- Client updates: Stories show which regulars came back, and reminders go out automatically.
The same building blocks any platform gets.
- Booking connector: Clovie's API implements services, staff, availability, clients and appointments, with idempotency keys on every write.
- Companion in the app: The owner companion runs in Clovie's mobile app through @nerova/react-native.
- WhatsApp: Each salon connects its WhatsApp number inside the companion.
- Guardrails: Low-risk bookings run with an undo; cancellations and bulk changes need approval.
